Episode 1: The Spirit Gives Gifts

You have been placed in a family and a local church and if you are a Christian, that means the Holy Spirit dwells within you and has given you unique giftings for the benefit of the body of Christ and the those around you. 

Discussion Questions:

• Who gives spiritual gifts to us and when does it happen?
  
• What is the purpose of providing spiritual gifts to believers?
  
• Why did Paul write about spiritual gifts to the Corinthian church?

“Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; and there are varieties of service, but the same Lord; and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who empowers them all in everyone. To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. 

For to one is given through the Spirit the utterance of wisdom, and to another the utterance of knowledge according to the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit, to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another the ability to distinguish between spirits, to another various kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. 

All these are empowered by one and the same Spirit, who apportions to each one individually as he wills. ”

Prayer

Holy God,

Thank you for providing your spirit to live within us and in your infinite wisdom, for giving believers gifts to be used for the good of your church and others. I pray that as you work within me and reveal to me my specific giftings that I would remember that it all comes from you. Help me to use what you have given and give it back to you as a fragrant offering of service.
