The Problem

Most tools help you present the gospel. Few help you start talking.

More and more people in the US and post-Christian Europe are not coming to church to hear the gospel. We need to go to them. That means building real friendships with people who don’t know Jesus—and finding the words to begin.

Many of us get so deep in our Christian circles that we hardly know where those friendships would come from. And even when the moment arrives, the first sentence feels impossible. So we stay quiet, and the door closes.

Jesus was “a friend of tax collectors and sinners” (Luke 7:34). Are we?

“Have the courage to start a conversation that could change someone’s eternity.”

What’s Inside

Six ways to plant gospel seeds

Mention God Naturally

Talk about God, prayer, and the Bible as a normal part of your everyday life.

Quote or Paraphrase the Bible

“What you’re saying reminds me of something I read in the Bible…”

Use Questions

“Do you consider yourself on a spiritual journey? Where are you on that journey?”

Offer To Pray for Them

Even people who claim to be atheists will often want prayer. Then follow up.

Share Stories

Tell a brief story of how God has worked in your life, closed with a Bible verse.

Love Them

Accept people as genuine friends and serve them in practical ways. Connect before you correct.

Plus simple habits for opening conversations in the first place: see people as Jesus does, smile, find something to comment on, and ask open questions.
