Basic Qualifications for Missionary Service with ABWE
If the items on this describe you, God may be leading you towards career missions with ABWE.
Saved.
Before considering missions, confirm that you are a born-again Christian living a Christ-like lifestyle.
Citizen.
To be an ABWE missionary, you must be a U.S. or Canadian citizen or legal resident for at least four years.
Serious about doctrine.
If you’re serious about biblical theology and truth, we’re serious about you. We are theologically conservative, robustly evangelical, and distinctively baptist.
- Check out our statement of faith and confirm that you and your church line up.
Gospel-centered.
We hope you share our passion for evangelism and discipleship through planting and multiplying local churches. For us, platforms like medical ministry, education, and poverty relief are simply bridges to take the gospel to the unreached to spark new church communities.
- Learn our history and see why the gospel matters so much to us.
Church member.
We aren’t a sending agency—your local church is the real sender. Our job is to facilitate. We’re so serious about the church, we only consider applicants who are active, engaged church members. If your church is behind your decision to go, we are too.
- Check out our Guide for the Journey for tips on talking to your pastor.
