Community Health Evangelism (CHE)
What is CHE?
Community Health Evangelism (CHE) is an approach to medical missions that combines evangelism, discipleship, and church planting with disease prevention, poverty alleviation and community health and development. CHE addresses both the physical and spiritual needs of individuals, so that people become followers of Jesus and communities are transformed.
CHE models can be adapted for many different geographic, social, and political contexts, and the approach can take various forms, such as community-based, church-initiated, church-based, family-based, school-based, clinic-based, or government-initiated. Community Health Evangelism Ministries
The Gambia
Community Health Evangelism (CHE) ministries are working to transform the well-being of rural communities in The Gambia through evangelism, discipleship, health education, health prevention, and community development. Our team applies CHE principles and lessons alongside our existing adult literacy ministry. There are CHE lessons that can apply to almost any skillset. The program is a community-Driven, locally sustainable program, contextualized for Gambian culture, and integrated with physical and spiritual teachings.
North Togo
Our North Togo Community Health Evangelism (CHE) program involves Togolese Christians working with missionaries to reach communities in holistic ministry.
South Togo
In Southern Togo, our Community Health Evangelism (CHE) team of both Togolese and ABWE missionaries provide health education and empower Togolese to reach their local villages with the with the gospel.
We exist to share the gospel of Jesus Christ in villages in the south of Togo, to serve alongside local pastors in order to encourage church planting through evangelism and discipleship, to teach prevention of diseases in general as well as prevention of diseases specific to the particular village/environment, and to encourage community development through strategic community interventions.
