The Position
We are in need of disciple-makers and church planters who will join our team and explore the unexplored as we long to reach the most unreached areas in our country. This requires significant patience, a desire to learn culture and language, a humble spirit as we work to equip nationals also and local church experience. We are not looking to establish an American Church in Togo rather to walk side by side with nationals who long to reach their own people groups and to equip them to plant indigenous churches in their own cities and villages.
This region is deprived of the gospel and in order to reduce that deprivation we have to be willing to walk a very long path with those who have never heard of Jesus as God so that they can experience the joy of His salvation. This role will require patience to teach others how to understand and live out God’s Word through the guidance of the Holy Spirit. This will not be a quickly rewarded role but the potential outcome is immeasurable. Imagine being on the frontlines experiencing God working in ways you could never imagine with people you never knew existed.
The Need
In our region we have over 875,000 unreached and un/under-engaged people, mostly Muslim, among which little to nothing is being done. This does not include at least 4 uncounted people groups that also number over 100,000 more people. The university in our city has over 21,000 students many of whom come from these unreached people groups. We are opening a university center focused on the two largest unreached people groups in our region through the means of English Conversation Groups, Leadership Development, and University Assistance for diaspora people.
We currently only have 1 family and 1 single in our region who are focusing on this vast number of unreached people. We need people who are dedicated to come, serve, love, build relationships, suffer with people, and share their faith with Muslims who have never heard of Jesus. This will take patience and great grace to walk some very difficult roads with our friends as God reaches them and then uses them to plant churches among their own people groups.
The Impact
We are responsible for the two regions with the largest amount of unreached people groups and yet we are the smallest team. ABWE established a few churches in one area and now we are attempting to eliminate the gospel depravation that is so prevalent throughout the rest of this area. The ultimate goal is to see churches planted in the most resistant areas of our country by people who come to know the Savior while studying at the university. If we don’t reach them there and if we don’t reach them now then how will their people know of the redeeming love of our savior? This is fresh, entry level work that will lead to church planting as disciples are made. Come be apart of something new and fresh in Togo. Come help us reduce Gospel Depravation in Central Togo.
