The Position
Are you a flexible, relational, biblically-minded, and creative self-starter? Do you have a passion to preach the Word, equip the saints, and reach the lost in a dry and weary land? Well, Brazil can be hot and wet, but nonetheless, our team is looking for families, professionals and/or interns with a passion for church planting!!!
Virtually every ministry we undertake is geared toward creating new believers, discipling them, and helping them worship God together as a church — so that eventually they can send their own missionaries into the world. It’s hard work, but for those called to the challenge, there is no greater reward on earth than watching a church you’ve helped to plant grow in its love for Jesus, grow in its love for one another, and grow in its love for the lost.
The Need
About 75 percent of Brazilians identify as Catholic. In the last three decades Brazil has also grown to be the largest Pentecostal nation of the world. Only four percent of the 200 million people claim to be non-Pentecostal Evangelical believers. In Southern Brazil, less than two percent of people identify as Christians.
We seek individuals to partner with missionaries and Brazilian nationals to share the gospel, plant and multiply local churches, train leaders, and ultimately, assist Brazilians to continue fulfilling the Great Commission by sending out their own people as missionaries.
The Impact
Our team has been involved in church planting, leadership training, sports evangelism, counseling and retreat ministries in southern Brazil for several decades. To-date, nine churches have been planted, with more than half having national Brazilian pastors. The Southern Brazil Team endeavors, as the Lord wills, to continue planting local churches and equipping local leaders through a seminary and Biblical Counseling Center.
In 2015, the nation of Brazil entered into a widespread economic crisis. The financial recession is real, crime is high, and the overall morale, at times, can be very low. We are praying that God will use this difficulty to soften hearts, open eyes to the Gospel and give many people hope in desperate times. The suicide rate in southern Brazil is four times the national average. Brazilians need the hope and promises of God’s Word, and the example of a loving and gracious church. Only eternity will reveal the impact that each church plant has had, and will have in the lives and souls of Brazilians.
