Many parts of the world lack consistent gospel witness. In some places the church is young and fragile. In others, the good news has never crossed cultural lines. God’s glory deserves to be known among every people—and he is calling his church to act.
Flood the Nations is our response to that call—a sustained effort to see the knowledge of the glory of the Lord cover the earth (Habakkuk 2:14). We work with local churches, national leaders, and missionaries on the ground so that whole communities might hear, trust, and live under Christ’s lordship.

Poland sits as the gateway nation from Western to Eastern Europe. It is considered the European museum of Catholicism, so it is no surprise that nearly 85 percent of the Polish population (37 million) identify as Roman Catholic, but less than half a percent of the population are evangelical believers. When ABWE missionaries first began work in Poland in 2006, they were focused on church planting, and pioneer teammates began the work with two church plants in the north of Poland.
Today, there is great need for a team of mature believers to work alongside local church plants and love and live life alongside them as they minister through English clubs, sports outreach, small groups, and mentoring orphans.
Roughly the size of Texas, Ukraine is located north of the Black Sea in Eastern Europe and is home to approximately 38 million people. The first ABWE missionaries arrived on the field in 1991. Currently, teammates are serving in Kyiv and Odesa, but their impact, ministry, and focus reach far beyond the cities in which they live.
The Orthodox church has a strong presence in Ukraine, as well as Catholicism, paganism fortune telling, and witchcraft. Despite these constant religious pressures and the difficulties of political unrest, Ukrainian churches are among the most evangelistic in Europe. Many have doubled or tripled in attendance, and new churches have been planted, but they also need fellow believers to serve alongside them, continuing to share the gospel and disciple new believers.
Hungary’s long history with Christianity began with its first king, who established Roman Catholicism as the official religion. Since 1994, ABWE has partnered with the International Christian School of Budapest, where two hundred and fifty students currently attend.
The ABWE team also works closely with local partners to strengthen existing churches, bolster national leaders through theological education and leadership training, and reach out to unreached communities with evangelism and discipleship efforts. There is a continual need for more workers to help facilitate missionary work in Hungary.
