Supervisory Responsibility:  Chef’s Assistant, kitchen volunteers

Mission/Vision: Fulfilling the Great Commission by multiplying leaders, churches, and missions movements among every people.

Job Summary/Primary Role:  The Corporate Chef will plan, direct, and coordinate all aspects of ABWE Food Service operations.  The Corporate Chef has creative license over all menu planning and is encouraged to be inventive and unique.

The ideal candidate will view this position as a ministry to ABWE guests, missionaries, and staff and uses their culinary vision to create an atmosphere of hospitality and family.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Oversees all aspects of Food Service at the International Headquarters, including scheduling, planning, purchasing, preparing, and serving food.
  • Creates seasonal catering meals and snacks for events/functions.
  • Modifies menus and recipes for those with food allergies, ensuring food safety and eliminating cross contamination.
  • Places food and product orders with grocery distributors. Purchases at local grocery stores as needed.
  • Prepares scratch meals for both small and large groups.
  • Oversees commercial kitchen equipment, including cleaning and maintenance.
  • Ensures proper food storage and handling practices.
  • Oversees food presentation and service set-up.
  • Oversees kitchen staff and volunteers, ensuring proper preparation and service of food.
  • Works closely with Corporate Event Department staff execute all dining room functions.
  • Manages the budget for department.
  • Performs other duties or special projects as required or as assigned.

Qualifications:  Ability to pass background check and all necessary clearances as mandated by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

Education:  High School Diploma required. Associates Degree in Culinary Arts or similar preferred.

Minimum Prior Experience Required: Four years of culinary/restaurant experience, including catering or large volume cooking. Previous experience managing food preparation/kitchen staff preferred.

Physical Demands and Work Environment: The physical demands are minimal and typical of similar jobs in comparable organizations, including extended periods of time sitting at a desk. The work environment is representative and typical of similar jobs in comparable organizations. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for extended periods of time, talk or hear; perform fine motor, hand, and finger skills in the use of a keyboard, telephone, or writing. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, and reach with arms and/or hands. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee will spend their time in an office environment with a moderate to high noise level.
