Headline Speaker: Dr. Greg Vruggink
Greg grew up in Hudsonville, Michigan in a Christian home, but he didn’t come to Christ until he was in high school. Once he became a Christian he was still floundering in his faith until his youth pastor, Jim, began discipling him and met with him regularly for over three years. He taught Greg how to study the Bible and shared the importance of devoting his whole life to serve God, and it is because of that discipleship and education that he is serving in full-time ministry today. Greg went to college at Cedarville University where he majored in Bible with a minor in Missions. Greg and his wife Rachel served for three years in China as English teachers and then for six years in pastoral ministry in Chinese-American churches. Their family has been living in Thailand since 2017 where Greg has served as the Old Testament professor and Director of Online Education at Asia Biblical Theological Seminary. He completed his PhD in Old Testament studies in 2023.

Fearued Topic: Contextualizing through Bible Genre
Explore how to use Biblical genre for contextualization in ministry, including the power of story, song, and wisdom. By recovering biblical forms of communication (Narrative, Wisdom, Song, etc.), we are faithful not only to the content of Scripture, but also to the method Scripture itself uses for communication. Faithfulness to the mode of Biblical revelation is a crucial tool for effective contextualization.
