Church Plant Support Workers

Ukraine

The Position

Our team is looking for church plant support workers. New churches in Ukraine begin in close partnership with local pastors. A church plant support worker supports a national pastor and his team in establishing a new church by seeding Bible study and discipleship groups.

Before public church services begin, church plant support workers focus most of their efforts on prayer, survey, and team building activities. Once the team settles on a concrete local ministry strategy and plan, evangelism and community outreach become the focus until a few discipleship groups form. Establishing additional discipleship groups and group leaders continues until enough obedient disciples come to faith to enroll into formal catechism in preparation for baptism.

The ability to teach the Bible in simple terms, build new relationships, show hospitality, and persist in shifting circumstances are perfect qualifications.

The Need

Ukraine is reeling from great destruction, and people are sensitive and open to the Gospel. The national churches excel at evangelism, but are constrained by shortages of capable small group leaders.

Common receptiveness and religious freedom make up ideal conditions for starting church planting movements.

The Impact

Church planting is the foundational ministry for lasting fruit. Every other ministry grows or shrinks depending on national church planting momentum. New churches activate large national resources in the harvest, which build up the Body of Christ without building dependence on continual international funding.

Many of the traditional Eastern Orthodox cultural Christians are disappointed with heresy and corruption in national churches. This creates a rare opportunity to effectively minister to middle and upper class across cultural barriers.
