The Position
Do you love people and coffee? Have some small business experience, basic fluency in Spanish, and a desire to set roots in a small neighborhood in a suburb of Madrid, Spain?
We are looking for someone to help manage our coffee shop here in Alcalá de Henares, Spain.
It would be a partially paid position and for this reason you would need to have EU citizenship.
In addition to running the day to day operations of the shop, you would have the opportunity to serve, love and build relationships with the people of our neighborhood, a foundational aspect in a country that is very distrustful of “religion”.
The Need
Spain has a history of religion mixed with politics and for most Spanish people it is hard to separate the two. In a country with less than 2% evangelical Christians and a growing number of religious “nones”, Spanish people, like many of us, are tempted to fill their lives with better homes, jobs, and vacations, always looking for an external peace that in reality can only be found inwardly.
The Impact
What our neighborhood needs is a consistent, loving presence, and our coffee shop offers that space. Your job may involve washing dishes, making coffee and mopping floors, but the love you show through your words and actions will have our customers questioning this supernatural joy that permeates your life.
