The Position
Disciple multipliers lead a contagious life of growth in their knowledge of and love for Jesus, as well as obedience to Him, spurring others to a similar life. They both study and intentionally follow Jesus in His teachings and seek others with whom to share that life.
Disciple multipliers live life with open hands, hearts, eyes, and homes, inviting Central Asians into relationship with both them and Jesus. There are not enough of such people anywhere, but this is especially true in Central Asia, where the gospel has been extremely scarce for most of the last thousand years.
Our days are focused on growing our knowledge of God’s word, intentionally following it ourselves, and living our lives in a way inviting and available to Central Asians worn out by living on their own resources. It’s not so much a program as a lifestyle, opening up ourselves to both God and others, especially those either far from God, or in need of a deeper dive into His heart and leading in life. It doesn’t mean we’ve made it in our own relationship with God, but we’re on the way, eagerly seeking next steps, and fellow pilgrims on the journey. Flexibility and curiosity are key characteristics in this process. Schedules are “negotiable” in Central Asia. Tea is not.
The Need
Central Asian believers often feel alone, without examples to follow or guides to ask. You don’t have to be an expert – you do have to be real.
Forty years ago there were literally no known Central Asian ethnic followers of Jesus. Today there are some, but not many. Of this small number, few are older, more mature believers. Central Asia is generally a land of young people, as families are larger than most western families, with their own questions, needs, and real-life problems. Who can they go to with these questions? If you are interested in hearing more about Central Asia and how you may be able to join in the Lord’s work there, let’s talk.
The Impact
Disciple makers are needed all over the world, but Central Asia presents a unique opportunity. In many places across this vast region, the good news of Jesus is still unfamiliar. It’s rarely heard or shared. That makes the task urgent, but also incredibly full of potential.
The Great Commission is for all nations, but some people groups are still waiting to hear, two thousand years later. You can be part of changing that. God is working in Central Asia in ways we’ve rarely seen before. People are hearing the truth for the first time. Families and entire communities are being transformed by the gospel. And the fruit isn’t just for this generation – it could ripple through many to come.
Do you long for those who’ve never heard the gospel to experience the same transformation you have? Then maybe God is stirring your heart for this region.
Central Asia is ready for the love of Christ lived out through real people with real faith. If you’re willing to go where the need is great and the harvest is growing, your obedience could echo into eternity.
