Hospital Financial Management

The Position

The Togo South Team has an urgent need for a financial management missionary at Hôpital Baptiste Biblique (also called Karolyn Kempton Memorial Christian Hospital). As a fully functioning multi-service teaching hospital, effective organization and financial oversight are needed to help us stay on course as a ministry above reproach.

We are looking for someone with leadership and accounting experience to supervise a team of Togolese Christian accountants and administrative staff.

Degrees in Accounting or Business Administration, while desired are not necessary, but solid experience in financial management and Quick Books is required.

French language proficiency is desired, but is not required for those serving for 2 years or less.

The hospital needs someone with a heart for ministry, a passion for people, and a capacity for financial management to complement the gifts and hard work of the medical professionals.

The Need

Togo is located in West Africa a geographic area characterized by poor quality of life and little access to the gospel. Muslims are the fastest growing religious group in the country and nearly one-in-three Togolese practice some form of animism. The country has seen little evangelical outreach and maintains one of the highest percentages of un-evangelized local religions in all of Africa. ABWE began working in the country in 1974 and now has more than dozens of missionaries and healthcare professionals working in this small West African country, yet much need is still going unmet.

In addition to limited access to the gospel, Togolese have limited access to medical care, with just four doctors for every 100,000 people.

The Impact

ABWE established the Karolyn Kempton Memorial Christian Hospital, a 50-bed hospital in the southern part of the Togo, to begin meeting the country’s overwhelming medical needs. Medical work often opens a door to hearts that would likely remain closed. By treating the sick and dying with dignity, respect, and quality healthcare, we are showing them the love of Christ in a way they have likely never seen before. Several dozen churches have been established, many of them as direct result of the healthcare outreach. But many areas remain untouched.

The hospital ministry is integrated with a maturing association of Togolese pastors and local church engaged in a church-planting movement. Strengthening and facilitating these believers and churches is our primary aim through healing, teaching and preaching.
