Ministry Trainers

The Position

Are you friendly, outgoing and intentional about building relationships to share the gospel? Are you creative and interested in finding new ways to reach people? Let us use your passion and energy as a ministry trainer in Bulgaria. Join our spiritually mature team of “self-starters” as you partner with congregations who desperately need theological training and guidance. You’ll develop rewarding community relationships and change the eternal lives of its members, most of whom identify as Christian but do not have a personal relationship with Jesus.

As a church planter or theological educator you will:

• Provide church community leaders with essential theological training and guidance
• Provide support to existing churches who have no leadership by identifying and training potential candidates
• Demonstrate passion and energy about the teachings of Jesus Christ in the community you serve every day
• Develop relationships in the community that will expand the church’s membership and influence
• Help establish new churches by assisting and mentoring Bulgarian church planters in cities with no gospel witness

The Need

There are 7.5 million residents of Bulgaria, and 87 percent are ethnic Bulgarians. Of the ethnic Bulgarians, 98 percent self-identify as Bulgarian Orthodox and consider themselves Christians because they were baptized. Less than 2 percent of the population is evangelical Christian, and many of their churches have inadequately trained leadership. Some churches have no leadership at all. ABWE’s mission is to provide the existing evangelical Christian churches with necessary training and support while sharing the truth of the gospel with others who do not yet have a personal relationship with Jesus.

The Impact

The need for leadership and opportunity for spiritual enrichment in Bulgaria are great. ABWE began outreach efforts with two missionaries in Bulgaria in February 2014, then opened a Christian bookstore shortly thereafter. Today, a small group of believers gather in fellowship to discuss faith and the word at the bookstore, where we also facilitate conversations about faith with members of the community. With ABWE, you can share your passion about the gospel with the people of Bulgaria, many of whom have lost faith in God or do not yet have a relationship with Jesus Christ. The people of Bulgaria and ABWE need your help.
