Combine Your Love for Media and Your Passion for Missions

Storytellers Abroad: Missions Multimedia Workshop takes you to the heart of missions by taking you to people’s hearts—people whose lives have been changed by the gospel. Apply your media skills to create a video that reveals the heart of the story.

Media Creation With a Purpose

This isn’t just another video storytelling workshop. Through it all, the focus of Storytellers Abroad is missions. Although we take the technical training to a high level, our ultimate goal is to:

  • Help you produce a narrative video that engages the audience to give, go, and pray for missions.
  • Show you how your skills can make a difference for the gospel.
  • Give you steps to move toward mission storytelling for short-term or full-time missions.

One-on-One Coaching

Our coaches are world-class missions storytellers. They will help you produce your own video story of a life impacted by the ministry of ABWE in that country. Because each workshop participant is making their own story, you can benefit from your experience and skill set as you apply them to your project. You will also be challenged to build complementary skill sets in new areas and raise the bar on the skills you already bring.

“It’s like learning an entire semester’s worth of information in the first two days. Nowhere else will you get to learn all those skills in such a short time and under such great instructors!”

—Rachel, Storytellers Spring Break student

Sample Workshop Schedule

  • Days 1 – Travel as a team to an overseas workshop location
  • Days 2-7 – Story Production, working with instructors and missionary teams on location
    • Each day will involve instruction on the next step in the production process, followed by you going out to shoot, record, or edit that phase of your project. Working one-on-one with an instructor, you will review your work, building each step of the production process.
    • Work days are usually long (often 8am – 10:30pm). During the week we take production breaks for a cultural outing and an ethnic dinner experience.
    • On our last day in the country, we share the stories at a screening event for the missionaries, subjects, and community.
  • Day 8 – Travel home
