The Spiritual Need in Bangladesh

Bangladesh is dominated by Islam. With nearly 90 percent of its population adhering to the Muslim religion, Bangladesh presents difficulties to and opportunities for the growth of Christianity. In a country that is rife with political instability and deeply-rooted corruption, the need for the hope of the gospel is immense. Despite the official, civil protections for religious freedom as codified in the constitution, religious tensions and persecution of Christians is a continual reality for those who profess the name of Christ.

Church Planting Missions in Bangladesh

For 53 years, Memorial Christian Hospital, which was founded by ABWE missionaries, has cared for well over a million sick, injured, and hurting people in Bangladesh. Today, it is one of the major obstetrical and surgical resources in the southeast of the country, performing well over 2,000 surgeries and seeing over 50,000 outpatients each year. But even greater than its role as an emergency healthcare facility, MCH is a haven for the spiritually lost. The medical missionaries and national staff ensure that every patient that enters the hospital hears the gospel. If you’re interested in pursuing medical missions abroad, MCH hosts both long-term and short-term medical mission trips for doctors, nurses, and other medical personnel.

Another current ministry is that of the Malumghat Heart House. Founded in the 1970s, the Heart House ministry equips marginalized women and people with disabilities in South Asia with practical skills so they can provide for their families.
