The Position
Our partner, William Carey Academy (WCA) desperately needs people with Bachelor’s degrees to teach World History, Moral Education, and Geography to grades five and six. WCA has a furnished apartment ready for the person or family; however, the candidate would have to raise funds for their personal expenses, food, and utilities.
The Need
The country where we are located has a population of 165 million. Most are Muslim, but there are a significant number of Hindu and Buddhist minorities. However, less than half a percent even call themselves Christians. For those who long to reach the unreached, it would be hard to find a more strategic location. People are eager for friendship, open to discussing spiritual things, and desperately in need of hope for the future. God has miraculously kept the doors to this Muslim-majority country open. Access is limited, but development programs, businesses, and personal relationships to give us unlimited opportunities to share the gospel and strengthen our national partners’ outreach.
The Impact
Our partner, William Carey Academy provides English-medium instruction using an American curriculum. The goal of the school is to provide a model of international-standard education which will prepare students for study at world-class universities. The school was founded in 1996 and in 2006 the first graduation of the 12th grade was held.
Ninety percent of the openings in our school are reserved for local students, with the other 10 percent set aside for expatriate students. In order to provide opportunities for a wide variety of students, we offer financial assistance to about 20 percent of our families. Our students come from nearly every economic level South Asia. The instructional staff of WCA is divided between nationals and expatriates. The majority of our high school teachers have degrees from universities in the United States.
If you have a love for teaching, sharing your faith, and making an eternal difference in the lives of students, we want you on our South Asia team.
