Prayer Focus: Opens Mouths, Open Hearts

Pray that God opens doors to the lost.

“At the same time, pray also for us, that God may open to us a door for the word, to declare the mystery of Christ, on account of which I am in prison…” (Colossians 4:3 ESV)

Prayer opens doors and opens mouths.

While imprisoned, Paul asked the church at Colossae to pray that he would have an open door and open mouth. He wanted the Lord to provide Gospel opportunities so that he could declare the mystery of Christ.

Paul was convinced that prayer was the key to unlocking closed doors. We should be too. We must ask God to open doors. We must be ready to declare the mystery of Christ.

Today, doors need to be opened to the Japanese, Malaysians, Syrians, Pakistanis and the unreached represented in each. Doors need to be opened for ministry to Muslims, Hindus, and Buddhists whose hearts are closed. Only God can open these doors. Pray that He would do so.

Prayer is essential for success in missions. God has promised that His ears are open to the prayers of the righteous (1 Pet. 3:12). Doors and mouths open when God’s people pray.

This week, let’s pray:

Heavenly Father, please open doors for me to declare the gospel in my circle of influence. Show me how.
